Common Breast Problems and Medications

There are a few things that can cause breast tenderness. One is your menstrual cycle. Hormones released during your period can cause changes in breast tissue that lead to tenderness. Another possible cause is an infection or inflammation of the breast (mastitis). This is more common in breastfeeding women but can happen to anyone. Finally, certain medications (including some birth control pills) can also cause breast tenderness. Talk to your doctor if you’re unsure what’s causing your breast tenderness. They can help you figure out the best way to treat it.

There are a few things you can do to ease breast tenderness. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help. You can also take PMS breast supplements to ease PMS breast pain or tenderness.  Wearing a supportive bra can also be helpful. If your breast tenderness is severe, your doctor may prescribe medication to help relieve the pain.

There are a few different breast tenderness relief supplements on the market. The most popular ones include evening primrose oil and dong quai.

Evening primrose oil

Evening primrose oil is derived from the seeds of the evening primrose plant. It’s rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid that helps to reduce inflammation. GLA is effective in reducing breast pain and tenderness.

Dong quai

Dong quai is a Chinese herb used for centuries to treat various health problems, including menstrual cramps and menopause symptoms. It’s thought to work by balancing hormone levels. Dong quai is also a good source of antioxidants and phytoestrogens, which can help to protect breast tissue.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E supplements are another supplements for breast tenderness relief. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to protect breast tissue from damage. It also helps to reduce inflammation and pain.

Iodine

Iodine deficiency has been linked with breast cancer. This is because Iodine helps prevent cell division in breast tissue cells. Studies have shown that women who take breast health supplements of Iodine may reduce their risk of developing breast cancer by 30%.

Iodine may help treat fibrocystic breast disease. This noncancerous condition primarily affects women of childbearing age and results in painful breast lumps. Do not attempt to self-medicate on Iodine for breast pain despite claims that Iodine may help. Iodine should be used only if your doctor specifically recommends it for this condition. Otherwise, you risk getting iodine poisoning.
